Doctors Without Walls

Servicing families throughout the state of Texas with needed medical services for families impacted by the loss of income due the absence of a primary earner.

TX C.U.R.E.’s first of its kind in the nation, Doctors Without Walls™ under the direction of Dr. Lovelace Quarshie, DNP, APRN, LA, RN, brings volunteer doctors and medical professionals from our partner organizations to the world of the incarcerated and their families.  Many of whom have special situations where an outside medical professional evaluation is in the best interest of the inmate.

There are almost 8000 incarcerated Veterans in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice alone.  These Veterans lose their VA medical care during confinement and many times, the prison diagnosis and treatment falls well short of the pre-incarceration VA diagnosis and treatment.  The Correctional Managed Health Care (CMHC) Examination of Inmates By Private Practitioners allows for specialists to provide an independent examination and care in these special situations.  If you are a medical doctor specializing in cardiology, cancer and other life threatening conditions, and would like to volunteer to assist, please contact us for more details.

For the families, many qualify for our network programs providing low to no cost medical and dental treatment, which may include the inmate after release.

Our Family Outreach Program focuses  on the mental health, as well as general health of the family members and their children.
